Obituary for Ruth C. Hart

Ruth Cecelia Hagstrom was born July 6, 1926, in East Providence, R.I., to Erik and Henrietta Hagstrom. She met a young sailor - Jack Hart, who was stationed at Quonset Point Naval Base in Rhode Island - at a church service. They were married Feb. 14, 1952, in her parents' home. When Jack was discharged from the U.S. Navy, they made the long move to Lapwai, where Jack was born and raised. They settled in Lewiston, where they raised their three children, Karen Ruth, Eric Clair and Gary Alan. Ruth lived a long and full life and passed away on her 92nd birthday, July 6, 2018.

Ruth was an accomplished pianist who shared her talent as church pianist and played for the Singing Christmas Tree for more than 20 years. She served in several capacities in her church throughout the years, including as church secretary and Women's Missionary Counsel. Her faith in God was her foundation throughout her entire life.

Jack passed away in 2011, and in 2014 she went to live at the Garfield County Care Center in Pomeroy to be closer to her daughter. There, she enjoyed playing bingo and Skip-Bo with the other residents. She was cared for with love and compassion, and she loved her caregivers.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Stan Warren of Pomeroy; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Chris Hart, of Tulsa, Okla., and Gary and Pam Hart, of Great Falls, Mont.; granddaughters Brooke Holloman, Brianna Warren (husband David Nelson), Eden Hart and Gina Hart; grandsons Justin Warren (wife Tina), Erik Hart and Spenser Hart; and great-grandchildren Jerell Holloman and Molly Warren. Also surviving are her sister-in-law and special friend, Norma Dickey, and brothers-in-law Bob (Cheryl) and Gerald Hart.

In heaven, she has joined husband Jack; sister Esther Dahlstrom (husband Evert); her parents, Erik and Henrietta Hagstrom; and parents-in-law Clair and Ruth Hart.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. July 31 at Blessed Hope Assembly of God with burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Ruth's name to Garfield County Hospital in Pomeroy, 66 N. Sixth St., Pomeroy, WA 99347.

"We grieve in hope because heaven is real and we know we will see you again."

We love you, Mom.
