Obituary for Wanda Chisholm

Mom went to be with her savior Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the age of 90.

She was born July 13, 1926, in Culdesac, to parents Dwight and Joveta Latham. She was the first of 10 siblings. At an early age, she was stricken with polio and was a patient at Shriners Hospital in Portland, Ore. Shriners later gave her a scholarship for business college in Lewiston, which led to her becoming a lifelong resident.

Her first job in Lewiston was at a doughnut shop on West Main, and she later worked at Jack's Place, where she met her future husband, Frank. Frank and Wanda were married Feb. 5, 1947, in Coeur d'Alene. They spent the first few months of their marriage at Charlie McCoy's place on the Snake River at Red Bird before moving back to Lewiston.

They were early Orchards pioneers, purchasing a small home with two rooms and a path (as she liked to call it) in 1948. She enjoyed 62 years in the same house as a homemaker - sewing, canning, gardening, milking the family cow and baking her famous breads and cakes. She was well known for her quillos and afghans, and she made more than 400 of each, most of which were gifts.

She started Say Cheese Photography in the late '70s, specializing in weddings and graduations. She also spent more than 20 years at Pixieland Day Care, which was the highlight of her career. One special Pixie memory for Mom was meeting Jill Ireland and having daughter Zuleika Bronson in her class, also daughter of the late Charles Bronson, during the filming of "Breakheart Pass."

Wanda was preceded in death by husband Frank after 66 years of marriage; her parents; and siblings Beverly, Ramona, Ural and Weiland. She leaves behind four children, daughter Teresa Trundle, and sons Cleve (Stephanie), Jeff and Jim; grandchildren Brad (Akemi) Chisholm, Adrian and Lee Kiesser, Bonni Leonardson, Kally (Brett) Reno, Andrew Chisholm and Mark Chisholm; great-grandchildren Nick Reno, Alyssa (Vince) Cardarelle, Bradley (Michelle) Leonardson and Derrick Leonardson, Chelsea Schneider and Kristen Chisholm; and great-great-granddaughters Zoey and Lillyann Leonardson and Alliyah Schneider; her brothers, Robert, Denney Joe and Kyle Latham; and sisters Barbara and Margaret.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mountain View Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens, with reception to follow.
Mom's favorite charity is Shriners Hospital For Children.
